UKC SPOT DOG | $20.00 Test

How It Works

Attend one of CFVT testing. The SPOT test is, first and foremost, an evaluation of a dog’s ability to handle common, everyday situations, and the owner’s ability to control and respond to their dog appropriately in a variety of situations. The mental image that each dog should be compared to when evaluating is that of a polite, relaxed and happy dog, with a relaxed owner who is confident in their ability to control and interact with the dog in a natural everyday way. The SPOT test was designed and created for all dog owners, new and experienced alike. The founding principle of this test is to teach and promote responsible dog ownership. The SPOT program is open to all dogs, purebred and mixed breeds. Dogs do not need to be UKC registered or have any UKC listing number in order to participate. The test consists of 10 stations. There are four possible rankings for each station; you will find the minimum requirements for each ranking following the station description. As a SPOT Evaluator, you must rate all dogs to the same standard, regardless of age, breed, or sex. The rating categories are Outstanding, Super, Good, and Needs More Practice. View SPOT Test Video

Attend one CFVT obedience classes for 6 weeks or join one of CFVT public test. Your instructor will administer the CGCA test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, you’ll get an application to send to AKC for a completed evaluation for AKC CGCA Title. AKC Community Canine is the advanced level of AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program. As with CGC, AKC Community Canine has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Community Canine title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC. While Canine Good Citizen tests are simulations of real world skills, (e.g., dog/handler walks through a “crowd” of evaluators in a ring), the goal of AKC Community Canine is to test the dog’s skills in a natural setting. For example, rather than the dog being tested in a ring, in AKC Community Canine, the “walks through a crowd” test item will involve the dog walking through a real crowd at a dog show, on a busy sidewalk, in a therapy dog setting, or at a training club. Attend our 6-week Beginner novice obedience class. Your instructor will administer the AKC CGCA test at the end of the course with no testing free. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC. If you and your dog is ready for the test and you already had a class else were, no problem we offer the test for $15.00 multiple times a year. Aggression Issues | $80.00 per session

CFVT requires assessment of the dog before beginning sessions. There is a 4 session minimum requirement for aggressive dogs. CFVT works with owner and dog to reach the goal of  joining a group classes. Working with Owners: When dealing with aggressive dogs, I start by working with the owners, explaining how to establish themselves as the pack leader and to understand the animal in their dog. This is a crucial part of rehabilitating your dog and overcoming dog problems: changing your behavior. If you revert to your old ways, so will your dog. Breed and Dog Aggression: I deal with a lot of dog behavior cases, and I often hear people incorrectly blaming the breed. Any breed can cause trouble. The difference between an aggressive Chihuahua and an aggressive pit bull is that the bigger breeds can cause proportionately bigger damage.       View Video

AKC Community Canine (CGCA) | Provided with 6-week class or $15.00 per test

How It Works

CFVT want you and your puppy/dog to continue learning beyond basic obedience class.   View CGCA Video
